Honest Company-Will definitely go again and refer!

Have a Jeep Cherokee and was recently told we needed a new transmission and would cost $3500. To our knowledge the only test they did was drove it. We were told it was 'slipping' and 'very dangerous to drive home". I looked for reviews and thankfully found Jerry. What a difference! He took the time to actually ride with my husband in car. Then when he could not find problem, he wanted to keep over weekend and drive again Monday. His employee drove the car on Monday and found no issue. Jerry then drove again and still, no problem. Being that the car had $80K miles, we serviced the transmission (it had never been done before). Jerry said he would not sell us a transmission b/c he did not see it to be a problem. Jerry's total cost $130.00 The other place $3,500. I could tell just by over the phone, he is a genuine person. In person, he explains things (kinda like being in a doctors office!). We are grateful to have met Jerry and should we ever need a transmission (lets pray not!), we will DEFINITELY go back! Great person to do business with and you walk away feeling like you did not get sold something you never needed! Thank you Jerry! :)

Lost & Found again - I'm glad

I've dealt with Jerry 3 times in the past 18 years and had excellent service each time.

Recently, I had trouble with a slipping clutch in my '89 Toyota 4WD truck. The old shop in El Cajon had moved since my last visit and I searched for a couple days trying to find out where. I called the number on one of their old receipts and was lucky to find them in La Mesa.

'Long story short - due to the age of my truck, they ran into a few issues that fell outside the scope of the regular work however, Jerry and his crew went out of their way to make sure everything was done right. Thank you!

They do quality work at a fair price. Jerry has always been above board and very honest each time that I've gone to them.

Great Character

Jerry recently diagnosed and repaired my wife's Acura RL transmission. He was very knowledgeable and concerned that he and his mechanics diagnosed the problem and recommended the proper repairs. He was more than fair and concerned during the the entire process that we understood the mechanical issues and the repairs required to fix our transmission. We had the pleasure of doing business with a person of great character. We will be taking all our transmission service and repairs to Summit Transmissions.

100% happy with my experience

All I can say is that I am 100% happy with my experience and would recommend Summit to anyone, especially any female who fears getting ripped off like me. I brought my jaguar in after some unfinished work by someone else and they finished the job and gave me some great advice as well, Didn't try to sell me anything because I didnt need anything and only charged me for 1 hour labor total. Jerry is a really nice man who I guess owns the place. If you have questions or problems write them down and bring them in so each one can be addressed by him.

Just because other Transmission shops have national names doesn't mean squat, take your car here if you value your time & money.

Very Trust Worthy

I immediately got the impression from Jerry that he is a very honest person. This is very valuable to me. He twice took me to my car to show me the difference in the colors of my transmission fluid and was patient in answering all of my questions. My car runs like it's brand new

Just got my car back from them and .. well.. OMG!! It runs like it's brand new!! I was having a lot of noise coming from a bad input bearing and I also had an oil leak.

The part took a while to come in, but once I got my car back, it was totally worth the wait!!
Jerry was honest about what was up with my car and although I couldn't fix everything I wanted to, the valuable information he gave me about the rest of my car will enable me to prioritize future repairs.

As a former mechanic, I had a pretty good idea what was wrong just by the sound I was getting and sure enough, that was it. He didn't try to sell me any additional repairs, he just gave an honest assessment of my car's overall health and worked with me to get the most critical things done making the most out of the limited budget I had.

Having been in this business before, I am well aware of what transmission repair costs run and this place is very reasonable.

I'm definitely going to come here for future repairs. He did an awesome job!

Good honest place

I brought my older truck in for a transmission issue and Jerry looked at it and gave me the options as to what I could do to fix it. I decided the truck wasnt worth fixing, and Jerry was very understanding of my situation, and did'nt charge me anything! I dont know of many places that would be this up front and generous with their time. I will be back if I am in need of future repair work.

Honesty and Respect

Five stars is too low for the owner of Summit Transmissions for going above and beyond. Honesty, Integrity and Customer Service are the hall marks of this businessman and his company.

My wife (she's 58 drives back & forth to work & short trips in So. Calif. ) owns a 2006 Ford Escape with 75,000 miles on it. The transmission COMPLETELY FAILED (google "consumer complaints Ford Escape engine Transmission") .

We towed it to Perry Ford in Poway. They could care less. They quoted over $4,000.00. We had it towed to a local AAMCO Transmission Shop who assured me "they rebuild, Ford only replaces, we can do it for around for allot less". Their bid for the "rebuild" came in at $5,767.87 or they could swap it out like FORD for $4,300.00.

Frustrated with the lies and run around from Ford and AAMCO I called Barron Mercedes & BMW in Miramar area who has repaired my BMW for years and asked him if I was being taken advantage of? He said yes and referred me to Jerry at Summit Transmission in La Mesa. I called and ran the story by him. He spent 15 minutes with me and gave me invaluable insight and information and quoted me a price well below either Ford or AAMCO and gave me a negotiating strategy to deal with AAMCO.

In the end he did not make a nickle from me but was willing to help none the less. I called him back one more time and again he was willing to help and took time from his day. I t was rebuilt @ $3,300.00 and given a life time warranty.

In the future all my transmission business and all of my referrals to friends and family will go to Summit Transmission where treating the customer with honesty and respect is still a way of doing business. Thanks Jerry

Amazed at all Summit Transmissions did for me

I was recently referred to Summit Transmissions and Jerry Kubitsky by my regular auto repair shop. They were not able to determine a problem with the transmission in my 2001 jeep. They said Summit is the best in San Diego so I took the jeep to Jerry. I was expecting good service and a good repair, but was amazed at all he did for me. I have little experience with transmission repairs and Jerry went out of his way to explain every detail of the research that went into finding the problem. He continued to search for the true cause of the problem even though others might have been satisfied with the superficial fix. At his own expense, without telling me, he replaced other parts as a preventative measure. I suspect he spent 10 hours of extra time and another $300 in added parts that he didn't even charge for. I am so pleased and highly recommend him. I am grateful that I was referred to him and know that the praises were definitely warranted.

They will stick with it until they make it work, and are always willing to go the extra mile (and take care of things that weren't their fault at all). No one wants to have to fix or replace their transmission- but if you do- go to Summit.

My truck tows better than new

For all of us that own and really use our pickup trucks, Jerry and the guys at Summit Transmission are here for us. Jerry gave me options, to fix my transmission issues, but in the end I went with what he thought really needed to done. The upgrades he recommended for towing my toy hauler have worked. My truck tows better than new. I found Summit to be fair, reasonable, and a lot more knowledgeable than the last place that worked on my truck. Thanks Jerry.

Fantastic!

I was referred to Summit from a place that my Father had used for years in Encinitas after they closed down. Not only were they totally upfront about what needed to be done but kept in total contact about the entire process, explaining things to a very car unknowledgable person. I have always had my Dad around to help with the "car stuff" but with him not in town any longer I had to deal with it myself and Summit made me feel very at ease. My SUV was done and ready for my pickup before I knew it, with a warrenty that is incredible. I definitly recommend Summit, they are Fantastic!!!!
